Whole-House Dehumidifier

Dehumidifier Options We Install

Ducted Dehumidifiers

Ducted dehumidifiers connect to the HVAC ductwork and manage humidity from one central unit. We select equipment for quiet operation and automatic humidity control in Southern NH homes.

Basement Dehumidifiers

Basement units handle high-moisture loads in finished basements and crawl spaces. They drain directly to a condensate pump or floor drain, so there is no bucket emptying.

Automatic Humidity Control

A wall-mounted humidistat monitors the home and runs the dehumidifier only when humidity rises above the setpoint. The system operates automatically, so there is no bucket to empty or daily setting to manage.

Crawl Space Dehumidifiers

A dedicated dehumidifier can help keep a sealed crawl space at a humidity level less favorable to mold growth and wood decay. Active leaks, drainage problems, and existing damage still need to be corrected separately.

Why Whole-House?

Beyond a Portable Dehumidifier

Portable dehumidifiers treat one area and often require a bucket to be emptied. A properly sized whole-home or dedicated basement dehumidifier drains automatically and controls humidity across the spaces included in its duct design. We size the unit for the moisture load and coordinate it with the air-conditioning system.

  • Automatic drain with no bucket emptying
  • Digital humidistat sets and holds your target humidity

Common Questions

Dehumidifier FAQ

What humidity level should I target in summer?

We usually start near 50 percent relative humidity and adjust for the home and your comfort. EPA guidance recommends keeping indoor humidity below 60 percent and ideally between 30 and 50 percent when possible.

Can my A/C handle humidity by itself?

Partially. A/C removes some moisture as a side effect of cooling, but only when it is running. On mild summer days when the A/C does not cycle much, humidity can creep up. A dedicated whole-house dehumidifier handles humidity independently, which is why many customers notice their home feels much more comfortable even at higher A/C setpoints.

Does a dehumidifier help prevent mold?

Keeping indoor humidity under control can make conditions less favorable for mold growth. A dehumidifier does not remove existing mold or correct a leak, drainage problem, or other source of water, so those conditions still need to be addressed.

How much electricity does a whole-house dehumidifier use?

Electricity use depends on the unit's efficiency, capacity, runtime, and the home's moisture load. We compare the rated efficiency of the equipment and size it correctly so you are not paying to run more capacity than the home needs.
