We Do the Work

We Review Available Incentives and Help With Applications

With your estimate, we review the incentives that may apply to your home and equipment. Qualifying point-of-sale incentives come right off the invoice. A note on federal credits: the Section 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit expired December 31, 2025. Equipment installed after that date does not qualify. If you have questions about your specific tax situation, your accountant is the right person to ask.

Common Questions

Rebate FAQ

What is NHSaves?

NHSaves is a collaboration of Eversource, Liberty, New Hampshire Electric Cooperative, and Unitil. The participating utilities offer energy-efficiency information and incentives to eligible New Hampshire customers. Available programs depend on the customer's utility, equipment, project, installation date, and current funding.

Are federal tax credits still available?

No. The Section 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit and Section 25D Residential Clean Energy Credit expired on December 31, 2025. Equipment installed after that date does not qualify for either credit. Separate utility and regional incentive programs have their own requirements and dates.

Do I need a specific contractor to get NHSaves rebates?

Requirements depend on the program. Electric HVAC rebates require qualifying equipment and the required installation documents. Natural gas equipment must be installed by a licensed heating contractor or plumber, while the heat pump water heater application also allows qualifying do-it-yourself installations. We confirm the requirements for the customer's utility and equipment before the project begins.

Do I have to file the rebate paperwork myself?

It depends on the program. Qualifying point-of-sale incentives are applied directly to the invoice. For other available programs, we provide the equipment and invoice information and help the homeowner complete the application. The homeowner supplies, signs, and submits any information required in their name.

How long does it take to receive my rebate?

Point-of-sale rebates show up immediately on your invoice at installation, no waiting. For mail-in NHSaves rebates filed after your final invoice is paid, NHSaves typically processes the application within 6 to 8 weeks. The rebate check is mailed directly to the homeowner since NHSaves uses your billing information for verification.

I heat with oil or propane, do I qualify for rebates?

A qualifying cold-climate heat pump may receive the current NHSaves standard incentive of $250/ton, subject to the customer's electric utility, qualified equipment, installation date, program funding, and other requirements. The New England Heat Pump Accelerator may add $650 for each eligible outdoor unit. We confirm the current programs before including an incentive in the estimate.

What heat pump brands qualify for NHSaves rebates?

The current NHSaves Qualified Product List includes eligible models from many manufacturers. For mini splits, our primary brands are Mitsubishi, Daikin, LG, and Bosch, and we can also install Fujitsu and Samsung. For central heat pumps, we install Bosch, Goodman, American Standard, Carrier, Rheem, and other manufacturers. We are a Mitsubishi Diamond Dealer, Daikin Comfort Pro, LG Pro Dealer Platinum, and Bosch Platinum Dealer. We confirm that each quoted model is on the current qualified product list before including an incentive in the estimate.

What is the New England Heat Pump Accelerator?

The New England Heat Pump Accelerator provides point-of-sale incentives through participating distributors for qualifying equipment installed in eligible existing residences. Current incentives include $650 per qualifying air-source heat-pump outdoor unit and $300 per qualifying heat pump water heater. The program can stack with eligible NHSaves incentives. It is available regardless of utility provider or existing fuel type when all program requirements are met.

Do gas furnaces and boilers qualify for utility rebates?

Yes, if you are a natural gas customer of Liberty Utilities or Unitil. Both gas utilities offer rebates on qualifying high-efficiency gas furnaces (95 to 97 percent AFUE), gas boilers (90 to 95 percent AFUE depending on utility), and gas water heaters. The rebate amount depends on the equipment's AFUE rating and the utility's current program rules. We confirm the active rebate amount at the time of your estimate.

Do heat pump water heaters qualify for a rebate?

Yes. A qualifying heat pump water heater may receive a $750 NHSaves rebate. The New England Heat Pump Accelerator may add a $300 point-of-sale incentive when its equipment, residence, distributor, and program requirements are met. We confirm both programs before including either incentive in the estimate.

I'm an NHEC member, can I get NHSaves rebates?

Yes. NHEC is an NHSaves utility partner. NHEC members use the cooperative's heat-pump application and may qualify for member incentives based on the equipment and project. NHEC members can also qualify for the NHSaves heat pump water heater rebate. We confirm the current NHEC requirements before including an incentive in an estimate.

How do I know if my home qualifies for NHSaves weatherization?

Use our free 2-minute NHSaves Weatherization Prequalifier. It calculates your Home Heating Index (BTU per square foot per heating degree-day), checks your household against the 2026 NHSaves income-eligible limits, and routes you to every program path that fits. Final eligibility is verified by TurnCycle Solutions, the NHSaves-authorized auditor, and your utility.

Can weatherization rebates stack with heat pump rebates?

Yes. NHSaves allows Home Energy Performance weatherization rebates of up to $6,000 on qualifying insulation, air sealing, and ventilation work. Qualifying heat pumps, furnaces, boilers, and water heaters installed during the same project may receive separate equipment rebates. The New England Heat Pump Accelerator can add a point-of-sale incentive for qualifying cold-climate heat pumps. We review the combined project so you can see which incentives apply to each part.

How much can I expect to save with rebates on a typical heat pump install?

Current NHSaves incentives include $250/ton for a qualifying heat pump replacing oil, natural gas, or propane heat. A qualifying project replacing working electric-resistance heat may receive $2,000/ton after required pre-verification. The New England Heat Pump Accelerator may add $650 per eligible outdoor unit. The final amount depends on the utility, equipment, tonnage, existing heat, installation date, verification, program funding, and other current requirements.
