The Process

How Generator Installation Works

1

Free Load Assessment

We evaluate your home's electrical load and what you want to power during an outage. We recommend the right generator size, not the most expensive one.

2

Permits & Utility Coordination

We coordinate required permits, utility notifications, and inspections. The written quote lists the equipment, installation, transfer switch, permit work, and inspection scope. If site conditions require a change, we explain it and obtain approval before continuing.

3

Installation & Testing

Professional installation with transfer switch, load management if needed, and full system test. We walk you through operation and schedule your first maintenance.

Common Questions

Electrical & Generator FAQ

What size generator do I need for my home?

Generator size depends on the circuits and equipment you want available, their running and starting loads, the fuel supply, and any load-management plan. Our electrician and fuel gas fitter review those conditions before recommending equipment.

How much does home EV charger installation cost?

A Level 2 home EV charger installation (240V, 40-50 amps) typically runs $1,000 to $2,500 in Southern NH, depending on the distance from your panel and whether a panel upgrade is needed. Our quote identifies the electrical work, permit, and inspection scope. We provide free estimates and coordinate required permits and inspections.

What is a whole-home standby generator?

A standby generator automatically turns on within seconds of a power outage, with no action required. It's permanently installed outside your home and connects to your natural gas or LP line, for hands-off backup without gasoline refueling. Unlike portable generators, standby units run automatically whether you're home or away, and can power your entire home or just essential circuits.

Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger or heat pump?

Possibly. An EV charger or heat pump adds electrical load, but a 100-amp service does not automatically require replacement. Our electrician reviews the panel, existing loads, equipment requirements, and available load-management options before recommending an upgrade. If the existing service cannot safely support the project, we explain why and include a clear quote.

Are your electricians licensed in New Hampshire?

Yes. Our electrical work is performed by New Hampshire-licensed master and journeyman electricians, and A.J. LeBlanc Heating is fully insured. Our electricians are background-checked employees. We obtain permits and coordinate inspections when the work requires them.
