Gas Space Heaters

When a Space Heater Makes Sense

Home Additions

Extending ductwork to an addition is often impractical. A direct-vent gas space heater delivers targeted heat to the new space without touching your main system.

Garages & Workshops

Heat your garage or shop to comfortable working temperature without running ducts or raising your whole-home heating load. Great for hobbyists and cold-weather projects.

Sunrooms & Three-Season Rooms

Convert a three-season room to year-round use with a wall-mounted gas space heater. Thermostatic control keeps it comfortable without heating unused spaces.

Backup Heat / Cold Zones

A dedicated gas space heater can add comfort to a basement apartment, in-law suite, or difficult area that the main system does not serve well. We compare the equipment, fuel supply, venting, and installed cost before recommending it.

Direct-Vent, Sealed-Combustion Heating

The direct-vent, sealed-combustion space heaters we install draw combustion air from outdoors and vent exhaust outdoors through a manufacturer-approved wall termination. They do not need a chimney, and the combustion path remains separated from room air when the equipment is installed and operating correctly.

  • Natural gas and propane options
  • Wall-mount and freestanding cabinet designs
  • Rinnai and Empire models
  • Through-the-wall direct-vent install, no chimney required
  • Built-in thermostat or remote thermostat wiring
  • Sizes from 8,000 to 65,000 BTU depending on space
  • High-efficiency models up to 82% AFUE
Common Questions

Gas Space Heater FAQ

Is a gas space heater safe indoors?

Direct-vent, sealed-combustion models draw combustion air from outdoors and vent exhaust outdoors through a listed wall system. We install the correct fuel configuration, venting, clearances, and controls and test the equipment before it is placed in service.

Can a space heater be my only heat source?

For a small addition or apartment, yes, if sized correctly. For a whole house, a central system is more efficient and more comfortable. We'll help you figure out which approach fits your space and budget.

How efficient are gas space heaters?

Efficiency varies by model. Direct-vent gas space heaters warm a single room or zone without extending ductwork, which can make them a practical option for additions, garages, sunrooms, basements, and other hard-to-heat spaces. We compare input, output, venting, fuel, and the room's heating needs before sizing the unit.

Do I need to run a new gas line?

Usually. The home needs a properly sized natural-gas or propane supply. If an existing line has enough capacity and a suitable route, we may be able to extend it. Otherwise, the quote includes the new gas piping and pressure testing required for the installation.

Will it work with propane?

Yes. We install direct-vent space heaters designed for either natural gas or propane. We order the correct fuel configuration for the home, then set up and test the unit according to the manufacturer's instructions.
