Learn moreIndoor Air Quality FAQ
Will a smart thermostat work with my heat pump?
Most smart thermostats are compatible with heat pumps, but the wiring is more involved. Heat pumps require an O/B reversing valve wire that standard thermostats don't use. A.J. LeBlanc Heating handles the wiring correctly so the system operates as intended.
Is a whole-home air filter worth it?
For most Southern NH homes, yes. A high-efficiency media filter or electronic air cleaner removes significantly more particles than a standard 1-inch filter, which helps people with allergies and keeps your HVAC equipment cleaner and more efficient.
Do I need a dehumidifier if I have central A/C?
Central A/C removes some humidity as a byproduct of cooling, but it cannot control humidity independently of temperature. If your home still feels clammy when the A/C is running, or if you have a basement that gets damp in summer, a dedicated whole-home dehumidifier from Aprilaire or another brand is worth considering.
What is an ERV or HRV?
An Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) or Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) brings fresh air into your home while recovering the energy from the stale air being exhausted. They are particularly useful in tightly built or recently weatherized homes where natural air infiltration is low. We install Lifebreath and other HRV and ERV systems.
