We Know
Salem Homes.

Salem sits right on the Massachusetts line, where Interstate 93 crosses north into New Hampshire. As the first New Hampshire town you reach driving north, Salem calls itself the Gateway to New Hampshire. The housing is dense and suburban, and most of it went up as the town filled in along I-93.

Housing: A little over two thirds of Salem's housing units are single-family homes, and the median home dates to 1977. Building peaked from the 1960s into the 1980s, and the older neighborhoods are full of ranches, capes, and split-levels from those decades. Salem also has a real share of multi-family housing: roughly a quarter of the units are two- and three-family houses and apartments, along with a smaller pocket of manufactured and mobile homes. Many of these houses are now old enough that their original heating and cooling equipment may be approaching the end of its service life.

Canobie Lake Park opened in Salem in 1902 as a trolley park. It closed in 1929 and reopened in 1932, and it's still one of New England's older operating amusement parks. Salem is also home to America's Stonehenge, a stone-structure site off Haverhill Road. The former Rockingham Park racetrack ran from 1906 until 2016 and is now being redeveloped as Tuscan Village.

Heating in Salem

Many Salem homes still heat with oil, so aging boiler and furnace replacements are a regular part of our work here. Unitil provides natural gas service in Salem, but availability must be confirmed for the address. Where a gas main runs along the street, we handle oil-to-gas conversions and gas-system replacements. On streets without service, homeowners often stay with oil or propane or compare a cold-climate heat pump. We service all of those systems and size the replacement to the house.

We provide complete heating service in Salem, including installations, annual service, emergency repairs, and system replacements. When you need us, we respond quickly.

Cooling in Salem

Central A/C is common in Salem's newer and updated homes. Many older houses lack ductwork and still rely on window units. In those homes, ductless mini splits can provide efficient cooling and supplemental heat without extensive changes to finished walls. Homes with suitable furnace ductwork may support central A/C.

Cooling Services We Provide

We install and service central air conditioning, heat pumps, and ductless mini splits in Salem. We have installed thousands of ductless systems across Southern NH. Whether you need a summer repair or a complete replacement, we respond quickly.

Water treatment and filtration by A.J. LeBlanc Heating in Salem, NH
Water Treatment

Filtration, Softeners
& Testing

Water Treatment in Salem

Salem's public supply can draw from Canobie Lake, Arlington Pond, and Southern New Hampshire Regional water. The utility describes the finished water as slightly hard, which usually does not justify adding a softener. If spotting, scale, or water feel is bothering you, a current hardness test gives us a sound basis for that decision.

Some Salem homes use private wells, and those properties need their own laboratory results. Depending on the test, we can provide sediment, iron, manganese, hardness, sulfur-odor, ultraviolet, or arsenic treatment. When a laboratory result confirms radon in well water, we can share contact information for an independent mitigation company.

Public-water homes may benefit from a whole-house activated-carbon filter or a separate carbon or reverse osmosis system for drinking and cooking when there is a specific household goal.

Water Treatment Services We Provide

Salem homeowners can call us for water-treatment installation and service. For a private well, an independent laboratory analyzes the sample before we select and size the treatment equipment.

  • Water Softeners
  • Iron & Manganese Removal
  • Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water

Water Heaters, Drains

Plumbing in Salem

Salem's slightly hard public water and its private wells can both leave clues at fixtures, but spotting or scale does not explain every plumbing failure. We confirm the water source when it helps, then work through the problem in the home. Our plumbers repair faucets, toilets, shutoff valves, leaking or restricted piping, water heaters, and household drains.

When measured hardness or another water condition is shortening equipment life, we can connect the repair with an appropriate treatment recommendation.

Plumbing Services We Provide

Our plumbers service fixtures, water heaters, supply piping, drains, well tanks, pressure switches, and related controls in Salem. We keep the work focused on what the home needs.
