We Know
New Boston Homes.

New Boston is built around a compact historic village on the Piscataquog River. The classic white church and common sit at its center. Past that, single-family homes spread out along the back roads that ring the town.

Housing: About 86 percent of New Boston's housing units are single-family, with only a small share of multi-family and manufactured homes. Near the village you'll still find a real historic core of older farmhouses, New Englanders, and antique colonials. Most of the town went up from the 1970s on, and the median home dates to around 1989. On a given day we might go from an antique utility room to a 1990s colonial running a pretty modern system.

Heating: Most homes here heat with oil, and there's no natural gas out this way. Bedford and Goffstown next door have piped gas, but no line ever ran into New Boston. Houses get by on oil, propane, and electricity. Oil work makes up a lot of our calls, both maintenance and full replacements. Plenty of homes have no ductwork, and a heat pump is now a real option in them as long as the electrical service can handle it. Utility rooms here tend to be tight, so we size things carefully and plan the swap so a boiler or furnace fits and vents right.

Cooling: Boilers and radiators heated the older homes here, and none of them had a duct run. A ductless system adds cooling to them without tearing into antique framing or changing the look of the house. That makes mini splits an easy call in the older village homes. The newer colonials usually already have ductwork, so central air is often the simpler route there. We size either system to the house instead of some rule of thumb, since these places range from tight antique capes to open modern floor plans.

The 1743 Molly Stark cannon appears on the town logo and is traditionally fired three times each Fourth of July. Local tradition ties it to General John Stark and the Battle of Bennington, though that provenance is disputed. New Boston was also once home to Roger Babson's Gravity Research Foundation, which earned it the nickname the Gravity Center of the World.

Why Work With Us

Local to New Boston.
Trusted Since 1928.

New Boston's older homes usually need careful, methodical work. Antique framing, hand-plastered walls, and aging equipment all mean we slow down and plan the job right. The town runs the full range, from antique capes near the village to newer colonials on the back roads, and we work every trade in all of them. Older electrical service comes up a lot when someone wants to add a heat pump or upgrade a panel, and that's work we handle in-house.
